Free Gemini users can now upload documents, a feature that had been exclusive to Gemini Advanced

Gemini's release notes list 'Exclusive to Gemini Advanced: Document Upload' on May 14, 2024. On February 20, 2025: 'Document upload is now available to all Gemini users'. Free users get 'a 32K context window (around 50 pages of text), with usage limits', while 'Gemini Advanced users continue to have a 1 million token context window (around 1,500 pages of text) and much higher usage limits.'
