Email alerts

If you sign up for alerts, we send three things to our email provider, Buttondown: your email address, the services you picked, and your IP address, which Buttondown uses to block spam signups. Alerts start only after you click the confirmation link Buttondown emails you.

If your address is already on the list, signing up again changes nothing about your subscription. The form shows the same message either way, so it can’t be used to find out who is subscribed.

We use your email address only to send these alerts. We don’t sell it or share it with anyone else.

To limit repeated signups, our server keeps your IP address in memory for about 10 minutes. It isn’t saved.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and a few actions: searches (what was typed, unless it contains an @), clicks on source links, and which services people pick when they sign up for alerts.

It sets no cookies and doesn’t identify you: visits are counted with a hash of the request that changes every day. Your email address is never sent to analytics.

Cookies and hosting

We don’t set cookies. If you pick light or dark mode, the choice is saved in your browser and never sent to us.

The site runs on Vercel, which processes requests (including your IP address) to serve pages and keep the site secure.

Unsubscribe or delete your data

Every alert email has links to unsubscribe and to change which services you get alerts for.

To have your email address and choices deleted, or to ask what we hold about you, email hello@duskalo.com. We’ll remove them from Buttondown.
