Max (now HBO Max) launched the Extra Member Add-On in the US on April 22, 2025: for $7.99/month, the account owner can invite one person who doesn't live with them to their own login and profile, streaming on one device at a time. Max's help center says accounts are for the owner and the people they live with; from April 22 it describes prompts asking viewers who may not live with the owner to verify with a one-time code sent to the account email, or to transfer their profile to their own subscription. The add-on is only for subscribers billed directly by Max, not through app stores, internet, mobile or TV providers, or the Disney+, Hulu, Max Bundle.
