Gold and Ultimate members stopped getting Xbox 360 games, which had been part of each month's free games. Claimed Xbox 360 games are theirs to keep; the Xbox One games that remained stay playable only while subscribed.

Xbox Support: 'Beginning October 1, 2022, the monthly games provided to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Live Gold members through Games with Gold will no longer include Xbox 360 titles.' Microsoft said it had 'reached the limit of our ability to bring Xbox 360 games to the catalog' and that Games with Gold 'will continue to include Xbox One titles and exclusive savings each month'. Xbox Wire's September 2022 lineup had two Xbox One games plus Thrillville and Portal 2 as its 'classic lineup via Backward Compatibility'; the October 2022 lineup had only Windbound and Bomber Crew Deluxe Edition, for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Microsoft told members about the change in July 2022 (VGC, July 5, 2022).
