Music with Prime: 100 million songs, but mostly shuffle-only
Amazon Music with Prime grew from 2 million to 100 million songs, but most music now plays only in shuffle mode
What changed
- Music with Prime: catalog
- Was Before: 2 million songs, ad-free
- After: 100 million songs, ad-free
- Music with Prime: playback
- Was Before: Offline listening with unlimited skips
- After: Shuffle play; on demand and offline only for All-Access playlists
What this means for you
Prime members can hear far more music at no extra cost, but outside a set of All-Access playlists they can only shuffle it, and offline listening is limited to those playlists. Picking any song on demand now needs Amazon Music Unlimited.
How we know
On Nov 1, 2022, Amazon said Prime members get 100 million songs, up from 2 million, in shuffle mode.
Only All-Access playlists play on demand and download; full on-demand play needs Amazon Music Unlimited.
An archived copy of the Amazon Music Prime page from Oct 2, 2022 offers 2 million songs with offline listening and unlimited skips.
By Dec 3, 2022, an archived copy offers shuffle play of the expanded catalog.

Full research notes
Amazon press release (November 1, 2022): "Starting today", Prime members get "an expanded catalog of more than 100 million songs—up from 2 million—entirely ad-free"; they can "shuffle play any artist, album, or playlist in the catalog" and "stream a collection of All-Access playlists ... on demand and download them for offline listening". On-demand access to albums, playlists and the full catalog needs an upgrade to Amazon Music Unlimited. The US Amazon Music Prime page is titled "2 million songs included with Prime" and lists "LISTEN OFFLINE WITH UNLIMITED SKIPS" in the October 2, 2022 capture; by December 3, 2022 it says "Shuffle play any artist, album, or playlist" and that the catalog expanded "from 2 million to over 100 million songs". Amazon's Music FAQ now says "Offline listening is now only available for All-Access Playlists." Amazon Music with Prime is included in the Prime membership, so this affects Prime members.
