GitHub states: “As of June 1, all Copilot plans bill based on GitHub AI Credits consumed.” Its June 1, 2026 release describes monthly included usage and optional additional-spending budgets. It separately says new paid-plan signups remained paused; this date is the billing migration, not a reopening date. GitHub’s legacy billing documentation exempts annual Pro and Pro+ subscribers who remain on premium-request billing until their current annual term ends.
