Duolingo's blog post of January 1, 2026 says Explain My Answer, 'our popular in-lesson feedback feature available to subscribers', 'is now free for all Duolingo learners', and that it 'started as a Duolingo Max feature'. It is available 'for most learners' in the courses teaching Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Italian and Korean. The Help Center's 'What is Duolingo Max?' article (its text comes from the Help Center data, archived December 11, 2025) listed 'three AI-powered features: Explain My Answer, Roleplay and Video Call with Lily'; by February 8, 2026 it lists only Roleplay and Video Call with Lily.
